Dark Plasma is what is earned from owning land - each plot of land will produce DP on a daily basis. Dark Plasma is required in the production of many different items in the universe such as Buildings and Space Ships.

Dark Plasma is an unlimited resource in the galaxy and can only be produced from refineries.
